Dr. Edward Roufail

Ophthalmologist / Vitreoretinal Surgeon

Dr Roufail has worked on the Mornington Peninsula for over 10 years. He is a Vitreo-Retinal surgeon and has experts in the surgical and medical management of diseases of the vitreous retina and macula such as retinal detachments, vitreous hemorrhage, diabetic eye disease and age related macula degeneration. He is a member of the Vitreo-retinal team at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and has 24/7 access to surgical facilities required for the management of acute retinal conditions such as retinal detachment. Dr Roufail is an expert retinal surgeon and can accommodate both privately insured and uninsured patients. Many retinal and macular conditions are treated in our rooms. Surgical retina problems such as retinal detachment surgery is highly specialised and requires high-tech equipment and experienced theatre staff not currently available in Mornington, hence patients usually have to travel to Melbourne for their retinal surgery.

He is currently a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Ophthalmologists, and a Member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Retina specialists (ANZSRS), the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) and The European Society of Retina specialists.
